Yooper Day is set to be an annual event, to celebrate the Upper Peninsula’s past, present and future. The host city will rotate each year. The Inaugural Yooper Day will be held at Marquette’s Ellwood A. Mattson Lower Harbor Park, August 10, 2013.


The theme of the Inaugural will be, “Show your UP Pride”. The event will start at 11 a.m. with the Yooper March, a parade that allows anyone and everyone to participate. The parade will commence at the Lower Harbor Park, where there will be food, beverages and entertainment. The food and beverages will be provided by restaurants and breweries from across the Upper Peninsula.

The days highlights include; 'People of the UP' presentation, 'All dressed UP' awards for best dressed in yooper attire, pasty eating competition, 'UP Salute to Service' presentation.
